Emma:
This book was really good especially for a dystopian novel. This book is a great Trilogy. But, there is a problem with me and Trilogies, the thing is that I get so attached to characters in the books that when the series ends I am (in my mind) crying because the series is going to end with only three books!
The problem is that it is not a very popular book, but it should be in my opinion. Most people who are looking for a book to read look for really popular books to read, but the thing is that any book can be amazing even if it's not popular. So if everyone is reading those popular books no one wants to read the others. This book is one of the others, but a good other. It is living proof (well maybe not exactly living proof) that books that non-well known books tend to stay in the shadows.
That is why I am challenging you to find a book that tends to stay in the shadows, hopefully one that you found on your own by browsing book shelves, reading the backs of books and hopefully not judging a book by it's cover and actually reading the back. Then read it, and if you find it enjoyable tell others to read it to, you could even write a comment to us about why we should read it (if not already read) and give a review on it.
Ashvini:
Like Emma, I also strongly feel that The Ascendance Trilogy hasn't gotten enough hype. Emma originally read this book and recommended it to me. Like a lot of people I too look for popular books to read. When I started this I knew it must be good (or else why would Emma have recommended it to me) but I was truly surprised at how magnificent this was, being a book in the "shadows". I mean it does have a pretty strong fan base and all, but I feel like it needs more attention. I can't say how much I love this book (and the other books in the trilogy) enough.
The whole atmosphere in
this book is just perfect. This is of course a dystopian trilogy, including the
traditional dystopian corrupt form of government which was done so believably. The
words painted pictures so beautifully in your mind. What I really loved about
this book was the fact that the main character, Sage, wasn’t about being the most
kind, honest, humble person like a lot of main characters. Sage was straight up stubborn, to the point, and
rude. The personality of Sage was again so believably done, like real people.
This book had like the
biggest plot twist in history! Emma, you literally spoke the words right out of
my mouth! (The book turned upside down!) The strategy and plans in this book
are so cleverly done. I mean the twists and turns in this book aren’t so
ridiculous that it’s ridiculous; it’s done very cleanly and professionally. It’s
just so Urghhh! I honestly love this book so much, I just don’t have words!
In conclusion, I realize
that this isn’t a really a review and that it’s mostly just me fangirling. My
point is though that you absolutely have to read this book. Read it because you’ll
love it and once your done spread the word about it.

What a great way to rate books according to Ice Cream. I enjoyed reading your selections. My Peanut Butter are the Percy Jackson series but it is my hope to read the series soon. My Chocolate is Maniac Magee.....every time I read the book I am reminded how people should not be judged by the colour of their skin or the economic status of their family but rather by their actions and beauty of their soul. Thank you TWO GIRLS THAT READ for sharing your insights and opinions into the books you read.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for you comment on our Ice Cream Book Tag! (Even though you posted it under our False Prince Book Review :) We too found the idea of matching books and ice cream very creative and lots of fun. (What does a person love more than books AND ice cream?) We wish you luck on completing the Percy Jackson series!
DeleteHappy Reading,
Emma and Ashvini
